Beauty Review #4 Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in black

The next product I want to review for you is the current eyeliner I use which is the Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in black, available in any chemist.

I've been using this product for absolutely ages and I've still got quite a bit left so a little really does go a long way. The brush that comes with it is great for creating a really defined look and it allows you get close to your lash line. However it isn't the thinnest eyeliner brush I've used so I do admit there is a bit less control when applying to create flicks as they can come out quite thick and rounded. One thing that makes this problem worse is that if you wash the brush too often as it can make the bristles spread a part. This makes it even harder to get a defined look, it just comes out way thick. Other than that it is a great eye liner, the product itself has a great consistency so it comes out really bold and black, and doesn't dry up unlike the pen eyeliners. It lasts all day so you don't need to reapply it. Also I love how you can see into the packaging so you know exactly how much you have left again unlike the pen eyeliner products.

I know a lot of people would apply eyeliner by stretching their lid from the outer corner, I actually don't use that method, I just start in the middle of my upper lid and then work my way to each end. I always do it slightly thicker on the outer corner to bring it up into a flick and I don't actually go the whole way into the corner of my eye. I only apply it to my top lid as it can come out quite thick on the bottom for me. Oh and another point, don't rub it to try to fix a mistake, it smudges and like me you may have to start your eye make up over again.

RRP £7.99

Conclusion

Pros:

  • Very Black and Bold for a defined look
  • Easy to apply
  • Good Price
  • Lasts all day
  • Doesn't dry up
  • Easy to remove
  • Great packaging and brush
Cons:
  • Might not come out thin enough for some people
  • Smudges a lot if rubbed slightly

Would I recommend this? YES

Beauty Review #3 Lily Lolo Mineral Foundation with SPF 15 in Porcelain

The next foundation I'm going to review for you is the Lily Lolo Mineral Foundation with SPF 15 in the shade Porcelain. I purchased this product because my previous daytime foundation was too dark even though I bought it in the lightest shade. I purchased this foundation in porcelain because my skin is pure white and thankfully it matched my skin tone exactly, I couldn't believe it!
I have always been a fan of mineral foundation as it is so much better for my skin and rarely breaks me out in. It is made from natural ingredients so it gave me that piece of mind that its not damaging my skin. I have been using it for months now and it is defiantly my top pick for daytime and causal use such as for University or work. It has never broke me out ever and being a teen with oily skin, when I do get the odd spot the loose powder of this foundation gives good build-able coverage. Now the coverage of the foundation isn't full, you do have to build it a little to get the desired full coverage. When I apply it you can still see my freckles but that doesn't bother me too much. It has SPF 15 so that's always a bonus and it has the capability to keep excess oil at bay.

I'm wearing it the photo above and it is quite pale but if you do have pure white skin and don't like applying foundation to your neck like me then this one is perfect for you. I use a kabuki brush to apply it in circular motions and I use a smaller brush to put it round my eyes and over blemishes.
There are some downsides to this product, like the last foundation I reviewed the packaging is impractical. A lot of the product ends up spilling over the sides and it can be hard to actually retrieve the powder from the bottom on the packaging. Also the packaging is foggy therefore you can't see how much you've left. I had a make up emergency because of this and ending up running out and having none to put on.

Also another thing about this foundation which I think is a real let down is that it is not water resistant! The amount of times part of my make up has been ruined due to getting caught in the rain or dribbling when brushing my teeth (gross right) Though this can be resolved! If you are wearing this make up and a bit of water/toothpaste gets on your face, do not rub it! This will make the powder come off and once you have rubbed it the powder does not reapply properly back over it. It looks really bad! So instead if a patch on your make up does get wet leave it and let it dry in and it will look like it never happened. Your make up will stay perfect. Trust me!

RRP 13.49

Conclusion

Pros:

  • Perfect for pale skin
  • Build-able coverage
  • SPF 15
  • Comes in a range of shades
  • Can purchase a small sample first to try it
  • Stops shine and excess oil developing
  • Doesn't cause breakouts
  • A little goes a long way
  • Minerals=Healthy!
Cons:
  • Impractical Packaging
  • Hard to tell when it's running out
  • Price may put some people off
  • Not water resisitant

Beauty Review #2 Soap & Glory Products! + Give Away

I received this amazing Soap & Glory gift bag for my 19th birthday! I absolutely love it! Most of these products are now part of my daily beauty routine.
Let me take you through the products I use.

1. Thick and Fast Mascara 10ml

One word..WOW. This mascara is fantastic for creating high volume luscious long lashes that really stand out. When I have it on I have even had people ask me if I was wearing false eye lashes! With this mascara I never have to use eye lash curlers because the brush does that for me. It has a great life span, I have been using it for ages and I know for a fact I will be buying it again!

RRP £10

2. Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss in Punchbowl

This lip plumping gloss when applied gives you that isn't tingle that its working, however the effects for me were short lived. But I managed to solve that problem by just adding a tiny bit of water to my lips after applying the lip gloss and the plump effect lasted much longer! My lips generally looking smoother and fuller. It gave my lips a beautiful pinky colour that really stood out. It smells great too! However it did dry my lips out a tiny but when I applied it with water that problem was solved too.

RRP £8

3. Hand Food Hand Cream 125ml

This product is my number 1 daily beauty essential! I never leave the house without using it. My previous job and being around horses caused my hands to become very dry. This hand cream cures that instantly! I don't have one bad thing to say about it. It smells great and the bottle is a brilliant size so you get good use out of it.

RRP £5

4. Heal Genius Foot Cream 125ml

Yet another fantastic cream by Soap & Glory. I have always suffered with dry heels but by applying this after scrubbing my feet they are now as smooth as a babies bum! After I apply it I put on cotton socks and let it dry in over night and when I wake up the skin on my feet is silky and glowing.

RRP £5.50

5. Smoothie Deep Moisture Body Milk 500ml

Although this isn't my first choice of body moisturiser to use it is still a great product. I normally applied it after the shower after using a body scrub. It left my skin feeling silky smooth and it helped to get rid of those pesky red bumps I would have got on my legs after shaving. The oat and honey extracts leaving you smelling delicious. I got quite a few compliments about that! The product is a brilliant size so you definitely get your moneys worth.

RRP £10

6. The body Scrubs. Flake Away 300ml & Sugar Crush 300ml

Both of these for me had a pretty similar outcome. By using 1 twice a week it left my legs feeling so smooth and smelling great! In my opinion the Sugar Crush smelt so much nicer. It was so nice I could have ate it (no not literally) However the Flake Away when applied felt like it was doing a better job, the product itself is much more coarser and grainy while the Sugar Crush is more loose and gooey. For better results I always applied them to my legs when damp, not soaking wet so that I could work them into the skin better. Make sure to moisturise after. If you suffer from Kilaris Pilaris on your legs then these are the products for you!

RRP Flake Away £7.50, Sugar Crush £8

Beauty Review #1 Powder - L'Oreal - True Match Minerals Review

I want to do my first make up review on my current 'going out for the night' foundation. I use L'Oreal True Match Minerals Powder Foundation and I have to say for going out make up it is the best I've ever used. I have extremely oily skin and this is the only foundation I have ever used that is able to keep excess oil under control for the whole night. The coverage is absolutely amazing, it is totally flawless and makes pores look invisible.

However there are some downsides to it and the main one for me is the packaging  In my opinion I don't think its practical, more ends up on my bathroom window sill than the brush. I recommend you be extremely careful opening it because the powder tends to fall out. Another downside for me is that after wearing it on a night out I would break out slightly the next day particularly my neck where I've used it for blending, but it doesn't bother me too much because as I've mentioned before, the converge is flawless.

In the photo above I'm wearing this foundation. It might not seem like it but in fact I am wearing the lightest shade (Golden Ivory) Because it is quite dark for me I don't use it as my daytime foundation but party occasions only. I apply it by simply dipping the brush that comes with it into the foundation (you may need to shake the powder bottle to make the powder accessible) I blow some excess powder of the brush then apply to my face in light circular motions. I then use a small face brush to place powder over blemishes and round my eyes for extra coverage.

RRP £14.99

Conclusion

Rating 8/10

Pros:

  • Brilliant Coverage
  • Controls excess oil and shine
  • Easy to apply
  • A little goes a long way
Cons
  • A bit pricey if you're on a tight budget
  • Impractical Packaging
  • May cause small break outs

Would I recommend this? YES.
