My little cat Belle was hit by a car but thankfully she will be okay

On Friday afternoon my precious little cat was hit by a car. The vet confirmed this after looking at her injuries but thankfully none life threatening! He said she was one lucky cat as the car could easily have killed her.
I arrived home from University on Friday afternoon and like I always do I went out to my back garden and called Belle to come home. A lot of the times she doesn't come home straight a way, so when I called her this time I didn't think it unusual though something didn't feel right.
A little while later I looked out the kitchen window to see if she was there and she was. Normally when she sees me she runs straight to the window meowing to get in, but this time she just sat there looking up at me meowing constantly. I knew straight a way something was wrong so I ran to her.
As soon as I got over to her she tried to get up but just whined constantly with pain as she limped to get into the house. She wouldn't let me lift her because she was in too much pain. At this point I noticed a cut on her lip and instantly thought that my wee woman had been hit by a car. I rang my mum and she rushed home from work. Belle struggled to get up but meowed loudly and fell back down. It was heartbreaking seeing her in so much pain and she was terrified too. I don't know how she  managed to make her way home but she found strength to do so. We wasted no time and took her straight to the vet where she was x-rayed and stayed the night. We were originally told that Belles pelvis could be broken and if it were, she would have to be put into cage rest for 6 weeks! She would have absolutely hated that. But on Friday night we got a phone call from the vet with good news, she had no broken bones but was just bruised. She was given pain killers and we got to bring her home on Saturday morning.
Now that she's home she has to be kept inside for a week before she has to go back to the vet for a check up. She still has a bit of a limp and her back legs are still weak but she is recovering quickly. I'm so thankful she is home safe and the situation wasn't any worse. She is a much loved family pet and we would be devastated to loose her. She is already up meowing to get outside because she doesn't like using the litter tray when me and my family are in the house but I'm afraid Belle you will just have to get use to it for a little while longer!

Is it just me or do dogs look like they are smiling sometimes?

Isn't it just the cutest thing when it looks as though dogs have a little smile on their faces? (I certainly don't notice this with my cat Belle! Grumpy wee so and so) I'm not sure if that expression is a dog actually smiling because they are happy, whether you are about to throw a ball or give them a treat...I'm not a dog expert. Anyway below are some photos I've snapped of local doggies looking as though they are showing of their pretty smiles. Enjoy!

A big thanks to Pepi, her son Ranger (R.I.P), Patch and Misty for putting on their best grins. What photo is your favourite? Leave a comment. Thanks.

Picture Purrrfect

I couldn't help but take out my (not so good) phone camera and take a few snaps of Belle while she had her much needed beauty sleep. And to be honest, when she awoke to a camera in her face, she wasn't happy at all! Check them out below, leave a comment.

Out of these 8 photos which is your favourite? Don't forget to keep sending your favourite photos of your cat to pipa7x@gmail.com to be featured in a future blog post.

Poem #3 A Mothers Love

I am happy, I am warm, I am safe
Floating in a world of darkness with my tiny hands I touch my face.
As I listen to her voice, the only voice I know,
She sings to me so gracefully and slow.
I feel our bond although we have not met,
A bond so strong, together our hearts connect.
All of a sudden my world is disturbed,
I'm now in a place with things I've not heard.
A familiar voice she calls for me,
I scream and cry, with her is where I want to be.
At last I feel her skin, so soft like no other,
I am happy, I am warm, I am safe in the arms of my mother.

The Two Furry Visitors

One autumn day a few years ago, I looked out onto my garden to see these two wee felines. They were inseparable. The picture speaks the truth, the black and white one whom I named Domino due to his handsome colours, was a real whiner while the ginger and white one just set silently. I called him O'Malley (Yes as in Thomas O'Malley) I had known O'Malley since he was a kitten as his mother (Rihanna) and fellow siblings (Scratch and Amber) where strays that lived close to my home. Rihanna stayed in the neighboured hood for a long time after her kittens had left her but unfortunately I have not seen any of the family in years including O'Malley.

Having known O'Malley for quite sometime I had come to observe that he was a very shy cat and weary of humans (Though I am pretty sure he had claimed my garden as his territory) I only got to pet him a few times while I was feeding him. He even got the courage to explore my house one day! (Shhh don't tell my parents)
However since I got my cat Belle who obviously patrols my garden now and scares every feline out of it, I have not seen O'Malley since. I hope he is okay and has found a loving home.

Domino on the other hand was very outgoing and comfortable a round humans. He let me pet him and he even set on my knee. On that day he brought out the best in O'Malley. As you can see from the first photo, O'Malley is very close to me and doesn't seem to be frightened. He followed Dominoes' every move and he seemed so much more relaxed. Unfortunately that was the only time I met Domino. I hope he is okay as well.

Have any of you got a stray cat story to tell?
